National disaster mechanisms boosted with ERC project support
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) in collaboration with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Coordinating Unit, with financial support from the Enhancing Resilience to Reduce Vulnerability in the Caribbean Region (ERC) Project is hosting a stakeholders meeting to discuss the data needs for the DEWETRA Platform and how it can be used within the Caribbean context.
Database launched in VI for coordinated physical development
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI– Now that the Planning Database has been officially handed over to the Government of the Virgin Islands, the Territory will benefit from an improved development application process, and ultimately better coordinated physical development throughout the islands.
Third cohort of Disaster Managers complete CDEMA training at HLSCC
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Twenty-three disaster managers from ten Caribbean countries, including three from the Virgin Islands, have completed a one-week course in leadership and strategic planning for disaster risk reduction at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College’s Centre for Applied Marine Studies, Paraquita Bay. The course was conducted from 26-30 March.

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Two public officers from the Virgin Islands attended the
second annual consultation among senior government officials of the eastern subregion of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency(CDEMA) system which was held in Antigua and Barbuda and hosted by the National Office of Disaster Services (NODS).
