From raising to eat & for eggs to now a nuisance; Yard chickens in VI
SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- About 60 to 70 years ago, while the Territory of the Virgin Islands (VI) was still an agrarian society, many families in the VI raised what is described as yard chickens or fowls. They used them for meat and eggs, and in those days, when most families were poor, to catch and eat a yard chicken was a high-end delicacy.

BEEF ISLAND, Tortola, VI- It was a few weeks ago that Premier and the Minister with the portfolio for airports in the territory, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) told the people that when his government took office a few months ago, the BVI Airports Authority (BVIAA) Management left the facility with more questions than answers, with debt and mismanagement of funds.

BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI- The issue of residents poisoning animals, including chickens, cats, dogs and even goats, continue on Tortola, along with reports of this occurring on at least one of the sister islands.
