‘Expats will probably have to go back home’ – Dr Pickering
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - As the people of the Virgin Islands (VI) fight against the establishment of the public registers of beneficial ownership, Dr The Honourable Kedrick D. Pickering (R7), Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, strongly expressed that if this Bill stands, many expatriates will have to leave the VI because the government will not be able to pay them.
Close to 200 jobless as Peter Island Resort closes indefinitely
PETER ISLAND, VI – “Last week we were told in a general staff meeting that we have to go home, close to 200 hundred of us. They are only keeping just a few to do certain things.”
300 jobless when Little Dix Bay Hotel closes in May 2016
ROAD TOWN, Tortola VI- As if some persons living in the territory from paycheck to paycheck were not enough, some 300 employees of Rosewood Little Dix Bay Hotel and Resort on Virgin Gorda will be out of work from May 1, 2016 when the company closes for 18 months.
