Excursion boat captain alleges he was asked to leave Oil Nut Bay area
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A boat captain that provides excursions mainly in the Virgin Gorda area was allegedly asked to leave the Oil Nut Bay area. The matter, after being raised on Facebook by Junior Minister for Trade and Economic Development Hon Shereen D. Flax-Charles, was reportedly subsequently ‘settled’ favourably for the parties involved.
Removal of sand from Territory’s beaches is an offence
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Residents of the Virgin Islands are reminded that in accordance with the Beach Protection Ordinance CAP 233. 1985, it is illegal to carry out sand mining activities at the Territory’s beaches.

UPDATE: Powerboats infringing in swim area @ CGB to be remedied by August
CANE GARDEN BAY, Tortola, VI- With concerns raised recently about power boats and other vessels infringing in swim areas and dropping anchor close to the shoreline at Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, Hon Vincent O. Wheatley (R9) said the situation will be resolved next month after Swim Area and No Anchoring markers are installed.
Only 2 lifeguards on duty in VI- SFC Report
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The issue of having sufficient lifeguards at beaches across the territory continues to be a challenge as it was revealed during the Deliberations for Standing Finance Committee (SFC) to examine the Draft Estimates for 2019 in April that only two lifeguards are on duty in the Virgin Islands.
