Filipino Association marks Independence Day & 15th Anniversary with cultural event

DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- The tight-knitted Filipino community in the Virgin Islands celebrated the 128th independence anniversary of the Philippines and the 15th anniversary of the Filipino Association of the British Virgin Islands (FABVI) with a grand cultural event at Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom, Tortola, on Friday, June 12, 2026.

Patrons of the event were treated to Filipino cuisine, dances and pageantry.

One of the pageants was the first ever Little Miss Philippines BVI, which was open to girls of Filipino descent between the ages of 5 and 10. 

The first ever Little Miss Philippines BVI is Frances Isabelle Tan.

Meanwhile, Crisnel Faith Mea was crowned Little Miss Philippines Tortola; Madisonraine Doyle was crowned Little Miss Philippines Anegada; Jailane Aiyah Unico is Little Miss Philippines Virgin Gorda; and Irene Celestine Homena is Little Miss Philippines Jost Van Dyke.

Mutya ng Pilipinas – Tropical Islands Women's Competition

In the adult pageantry, the Mutya ng Pilipinas – Tropical Islands Women's Competition, the winner was Haidelen Lope.

The Filipino population is among the fastest-growing in the VI and ranks second only to Jamaica among nationalities holding active work permits in the Virgin Islands, according to data shared in the House of Assembly in June 2025.
