Fight breaks out at Summer League basketball game
On Saturday night, June 1, 2013 things turned bitter during the final game for the night. It was a tough matchup between Kings and East and, according to information reaching Virgin Islands News Online, a fight broke out among players and resulted in a number of spectators also getting involved.
One of the players involved in the altercation is allegedly the son of an executive member of the BVI Basketball Federation, a source said. This information has not been confirmed, however, the President of the Federation Byron 'Chucky' Hodge did confirm there was indeed a fight.
Hodge said the incident did not adversely affect the night's games as the incident occurred during the final game for the night. Asked if any fans were involved, he said "If any fan was involved it would have been to help to stop the fight."
This news site was also told that the fight was so intense in the Multi Purpose Sports Complex that it warranted the intervention of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF). Hodge said that to the best of his knowledge no one was seriously injured and there were no arrests made.
He did say, however, that the Federation took the undisciplined behaviour of the players very seriously and has suspended with immediate effect "all those who were involved [in the fight]." Mr Hodge declined to give names and further details as he said the Federation was wary of the effect divulging names could have on the players themselves and future games.
Contacted, Public Relations Officer of the RVIPF Ms Diane Drayton also confirmed that the RVIPF was alerted to the fight and they did respond but not legal action was not taken against anyone as everyone refused to cooperate with the Police. Efforts to reach the coaches of the two teams involved proved unsuccessful.
The game did continue to the official end and paved the way for a smooth transition to the next scheduled round of games.

There's so many guys who are considered "bad" at ball b/c they jump high, run fast, or father's were stars but can't play the game. Pick & Roll, Head fake dribble pull up, Reverse pivot drop step, euro step learn to do these things b4 considering yourself a ball player & starting fights for foolishness.
Disappointed b/c some of these youths get all the opportunities without working for it, & then at the first sign of adversity they crumble under pressure.
