PASEA ESTATE, Tortola, VI- The Financial Investigation Agency (FIA) has issued a new guidance document (the Guidance) to assist the donor community in supporting non-profit organisations (NPOs) responsibly and transparently.

The Guidance outlines best practices for donors, including verifying that NPOs are properly registered, understanding how their donations will be used and reviewing financial transparency measures. It also encourages donors to remain vigilant for red flags such as requests for anonymous donations, lack of governance, or unexplained financial activity.

'Report suspicious transactions'

The Guidance further reminds donors and members of the public to report any suspicious transactions or activities to the FIA.

The BVI Financial Services Commission encourages its stakeholders and the general public who may wish to donate to charitable causes to review the document thoroughly and to be guided accordingly

The Guidance is available by clicking on the ‘E-Brochures’ tab HERE on the FIA’s website.
