WICKHAM’S CAY II, Tortola, VI- Broken lights and a damaged front bumper were some of the damages noted in a fender bender this morning, March 31, 2015 at the traffic lights at Wickham’s Cay II.

Our roving camera was on the scene and made us aware of the incident since the matter, according to Information Officer at the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Diane Drayton, was not reported to police up to press time.

Late last year, Commissioner of Police (CoP) David Morris had said there is no need for Police Officers to be present at accident scenes if those accidents are nothing more than ‘fender benders.’

Morris was speaking as a guest of the Straight Talk radio talk show hosted by Donald E. De Castro on ZBVI 780 AM.on September 3, 2014.

He said that in cases of such accidents, drivers merely need to exchange names and addresses and each other’s insurance details and the insurance companies will deal with the matter without the Police having to become involved.

It seems the drivers involved in this accident this morning decided to take that route of settling their matter.

where u get that from, read the act again and understand it, if one or both parties report it to their insurance companies it is considered as reported, police dont need to be their, let the insurance companies do their work, waste of police time most of them, as far as i concern, if there is no injuries, don't call the cops.
