ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A female officer of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has been interdicted from duty for allegedly preventing her colleagues on duty from making an arrest on Friday, June 11, 2021.

According to reports, the incident had stemmed from an accident where a vehicle belonging to BVI Electricity Corporation (BVIEC) allegedly ran over the foot of an individual at a popular bar on Fort Hill.

Police were called to the scene; however, one individual was allegedly behaving erratic and wanted to aggressively confront the driver of the vehicle involved.

At least 3 police officers allegedly intervened with efforts to arrest the man; however, the off-duty police officer allegedly put herself between the man and her colleagues, which caused the man to escape arrest.

Incident caught on camera

The incident was caught on video and shared with our newsroom.

The RVIPF, in a press release today, June 17, 2021, announced that the female officer has been interdicted from duty while investigations take place.

It said in a general announcement to the Force, Commissioner of Police Mark Collins reminded officers and staff of the code of conduct and his expectations that professional standards will be adhered to at all times.

“He noted his firm stance that officers’ behaviour must be beyond reproach whether on or off duty.”

No charges have been laid in the matter, the press release stated.

Well good to see how you jump to handle that what about all those policemen who were involved in the two drug cases; the money in the pillow cases when four policemen were involved in confiscating and reselling, and the case with the cocaine at Balsom ghut where the officer involved left his post in west end to make sure the coke was stored in his house and jeep/truck. Lets get the same wuick action. Justice for one justice for all.
Or is it because she is from here?

The young lady just needs to get a good lawyer and she will get her job back. From the vedio fottage it appears that she was trying to get the guy to behave himself. Too me I don't see where the police was making an arrest in the matter so there is no obstruction. The sergeant on duty should be suspended for not taking action or controling the situation.
