Farley holds off Rawlings & Mellor in Hauteville Trust 5K Series
But it was Julius Farley who prevailed in the race that started on Long Bay beach, headed through the airport, looped to the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge and returned to the Long Bay beach. Farley has now won all three of the races in the series held so far and has virtually taken the men's title.
Rosmond Johnson took the women’s race, ahead of Kay Reddy and Ksenia Shvalova.
The race got off to a fast start with Farley and Stoby sharing the lead for the first mile and Mellor, Rawlings and JJ Rickets close behind.
Heading back from the airport, Farley, Mellor and Rawlings broke away and held together; however, Farley (18:47) who had placed second in the 2019 KPMG Tortola Torture a week ago, still had enough in the legs to hold off Mellor (18:50). Rawlings, competing in the 50-59 age category, was a close third in a Personal Best 18:52.
Ricketts and Stoby were tied for fourth in 20:00.
In the absence of Katrina Lindsay, Johnson easily won the women’s division in 24:54. Reddy was second (26:22) and Shvalova third (27:40).
