Fake News: No current elected officials arrested in regards to CoI

The Commission of Inquiry (CoI), which many residents have already claimed was one sided, had excluded Governor John J. Rankin’s (left) portfolios, which include the police, courts, and the civil service. The police force is headed by a UK National, Mark Collins (right). VINO/File
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Territory is hot with erroneous information that two current elected officials, along with other residents, have been taken into police custody over the controversial Commission of Inquiry (CoI) report, which many have dubbed a witch-hunt.

The CoI report has found no widespread corruption in the British Overseas Territory.

Our news centre can confirm that none of the 12 current elected members of the House of Assembly (HoA) have been arrested or even questioned by the all-white UK Police officers roaming throughout the Territory.

However, we can confirm that a senior civil servant has been taken in for questioning into ongoing investigations.

Is it an attempt to destabilise?

The CoI, which many residents have already claimed was one-sided, had excluded Governor John J. Rankin’s portfolios, which include the police, courts, and the civil service. The police force is headed by a UK National, Mark Collins.

Many see the constant misinformation peddled by some so-called media as an attempt by the Governor and his allies, the UK police officers, to destabilise the Virgin Islands and find a way to postpone the 2023 general elections.

Many are calling for the Governor’s Office, though the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO), to be audited going back to the former Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert and for an investigation to be launched into both governors’ activities, along with that of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force.

We will bring you more as this story develops.

I fully agree. It is impossible to exempt sanctions in the COI recommendations against present and past governments for the mishandling of the public service over the last 30 to 40 years. But the UK hired and paid the Commissioner for the COI so pays the piper calls the tune.

The racist UK mission is moving forward through abuse of power by the racist UK Commissioner of police and Governor. They are trying to instill fear in order to destabilize the country and try to justify their actions for a takeover to the world to be able to bring in their people.

You are spot on. We are not saying that changes are not needed like everywhere else in the world but the UK is trying to justify their abuse of power through creating the perfect storm so we will fight each other and look to the Governor & Uk as saviors while their kind get away free free free.

We demand the report from that lawyer man in the UK Cox who was working with the Attorney General and the Government in the COI. Every story has two sides and the side of the people of the Virgin Islands in this COI needs to be told. It is our only refuge as a people from this organized unjustified attack against the people of the Virgin Islands.

You have a point.. but it shows how weak , careless and such a failure our leaders are, but they will continue to be that way if we continue making excuses for them...We on the street would have done the negotiation and agreement like this....4 parts payment .1st part to start the job....2nd part in the middle of the job...3rd part at the end of the job ...and 4th and final part upon receiving the report.. This Lawyer already got paid in full so he don't care..Now we are now left begging for a report.... Hope we vote some street smart people this election, the book smart fools are letting us down in every way..

If the public service has so many areas that needed fixing according to the pre-authored COI, then why are the elected officials being held accountable for this when the public service is under the Governor. This is total abuse of power by the Governor and his UK Officials because they think we have no defense against their high-handed actions.

The current real possibility of the BVI, and perhaps the best remedy for the VI,becoming a Police State, is/was created and perpetrated by you me and all ah we collectively.. "We" is our number 1 enemy. We perpetuate and perpetrate then we vex when the UK activate in response as they are mandated to do.

This prearranged and questionable COI will be exposed with time for what it really is...a modern day lynching by the colonial masters. The main thing the Governor is interested in is why more of his kind has not received Belonger status. He has no regard for the Caribbean people nor locals.
  • We have rights (14/02/2023, 15:27) Like (25) Dislike (8) Reply
UK Officials are ignoring our democracy and democratic rights as a people of the BVI because they have deadline in their COI recommendations on legislation and policies to be passed which means they do not care if they are the best thing for the people of the BVI or not. Just get it done when and how they say. This means that the House of Assembly and the public service is now a rubber stamp for the Governor and his UK bosses. This is a slap in the face of democracy and certainly does not reflect a true modern partnership. For example, clearly the Governor and his UK sidekicks are angry that the Police Act was not passed as they send it to the House of Assembly to be passed and now, they are coming for blood through abuse of power but will try to package it as otherwise.
  • when? (14/02/2023, 15:29) Like (18) Dislike (15) Reply
When will the people of the BVI wake up and recognize that this whole COI process is a modernized version of ensuring that they enslave us. The time frame to get these recommendations done is absurd and unattainable and the UK knows this fact but could care less as failing to meet their unattainable deadlines is success for them.

Who can look into the Governor? Who can look into the UK Commissioners of Police and some of their UK Officers? I ask because there are many rumors on the street about a few of them but how can they look into us, but no one can look into them except themselves. This is wrong and it needs immediate looking into. This is building up to be suppression and leading to a revolution.

This is why I say the position of the Governor should be an elected one so they can be held accountable by the people and the laws of the land. Also, so we can check their bank accounts and assets before they took office, while in office, and after, so they do not run off with our money and hide it in Switzland or other places in the world in their family's names while having us looking at each other in the BVI as the thrives and corrupt because they have the power of investigation to keep our eyes off of them.

Well, it is to take our minds off the failures and questionable actions of the Governors and past UK Commissioners of Police and also so we can forget about the missing plane and 8 million dollars. School children say that some high-level UK officials are involved, and all efforts are being done to cover up the DE PLANE!

School children say the UK Audit office came to the BVI in secrecy and audited the last Governor nd his office and the report was not good but we all know they will never go after their own in the public but instead cover it up. That is why they called him back earlier than he was suppose to leave. To help cover it up they are now trying to put it back on us with their COI so we can stay off of them and have us watching each other as crooks.

They are more angry now than ever since the police bill is not passed how they want and now they are going crazy with abuse of power with modern day colonial strategies disguised as investigations and good governance to try to put fear in our hearts and minds.

How can Britain make things right and they cant even get it right in the own country? For God sake please. It ain't no Brit could come to the VI and tell anyone of us how to live and what we should do. This is retirement life for them. You dont want to see them all at their gathering spots. This is the best life any of them has ever seen or had. Best jobs best houses they live in best cars they have driven most stress less life they have ever lived. Instead of helping on the streets they out drinking with mates and sh** or going sailing. They all full of BS and then have this toy cop walking around trying to be a baller and on board of tourism? All of them fake as hell. The commissioner taking the young island boy police and gassing their heads to watch his back but still all of them have to hold a side job to feed their families while they white ones get off work at 330 each day to go have a pint? We see these MFs. We watching you just like y ou u watching us. Dont take or kindness for ignorance mind eh.

In almost every thread here i read of the colonial enslavers and their abuse of power.

look closer to home people......all this smoke and mirrors going on, all the noise being spouted, our own elected officials past and present are and have been abusing their powers which WE entrusted them with by electing them.......but all of this narrative if white enslaver is being created and perpetuated by them to distract us all from their corrupt ways and how they continually fail us. whats happened to The Wall, The cruise ship peir park, the mystery Airline ???? forgotten about right ???? distracted right ??? and lets not forget our biggest piece of negative press in decades . ..Our former premier and senior placed port authority staff presently accused and being held awaiting trial for an alleged plot to use their collective powers to create a massive cocaine trafficking route through our country.....abuse of power ??? look to our doorstep . .....its no wonder UK are holding our feet to the fire .....we've been caught with our hands in the cookie jar and now there is so much noise being created by our local government past and present created so we forget about whats on our doorstep........make no mistake, i share the collective view about the COI and how it was established and carried out, but something needed to be done because its obvious that we cant investigate ourselves, we cant be trusted to do it and we certainly dont seem to be able to " police" ourselves ( and i dont mean physical police force).
we need to look past the smoke and mirrors people, get smart about it and start to see all of this narrative is a deflection away from the facts, it is giving us someone to blame for the error of our ways. please focus closer to home, think about who you vote for very carefully.....very very carefully....we need new fresh vibrant and trust wothy people representing us........
