ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – In a superior all round performance, No Fear beat the Ballstars 1-0 on Saturday May 12, 2012, as the latest round of matches in the Johnny Hassan Women’s league concluded.

Lavern “Ebony” Fahie’s strike came halfway through the first half after Dalia Sonny had harried the Ballstars defense in to losing the ball. Fahie picked up the loose ball and let it fly with an unstoppable net bulging volley which gave Ballstars keeper, Amondora Creese no chance.

The top of the table clash was every bit as exciting as expected with both teams playing fast skillful football, but it was No Fear with Cassandra Gregg controlling the midfield that began to take control. Jeleine Smith also played a significant role in stopping the threat of Sapphire Flax Solomon whilst also finding space down the left to instigate a wave of attacks.

Kezia Gumbs and Laura Pompey were kept busy by Fahie and when the Ballstars did get a look in on goal, Brittany Peters was able to deal with any danger.

Tactical switches by Coach Jeffrey Demming also paid off as the speed of Philery Charlery was matched by the determination of Makedo Fahie and Sally St. Catherine.

The attacking ploys of No Fear also forced Murcella Gordon to play a deeper role and lesson her ability to create attacking moves.

Fahie stole the headlines with her 11th goal of an amazing season and put in a superb performance, the only downside in her box to box play was missing a second half golden opportunity to double the lead when she dragged her shot wide with only Creese left to beat.

In the day’s other game, Linda “Champagne” Alexander had two wild celebrations after scoring her first two goals of the season and helped the Panthers to a 3-0 victory over the much improved VG United.

Alexander opened the scoring inside the first three minutes, when she headed home from the edge of the box. Two minutes later, Christine Jackson made it 2-0 to the Panthers and Alexander then scored her second and Panthers 3rd on the stroke of half time with a delightful 15 yard lobbed shot giving Nekeisha Chinnery in the VG goal no chance.

In the second half, VG showed flashes of brilliance but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, whilst easily containing the Panthers few chances to increase their lead and will certainly take heart from the performance after the 13-0 drubbing handed out to them by No Fear and Fahie during their first game.
