ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Virgin Islands (VI) Department of Disaster Management in a weekend weather update have warned that in the VI, persons can expect showers over the next 24 hours for Saturday and Sunday.

“A low-level trough, light winds and available moisture across the Leeward Islands and British Virgin Islands will support cloudiness and showers over the next twenty-four hours.”

It said as of this morning at 7 a.m. the Road Town Weather Station recorded 1.15 inches of rain within the last 24 hours and that today it is possible that a rainfall total of 5 to 10 mm or 0.2 to 0.4 inch may fall.

Weather today: Cloudy with showers.

Weather tonight: Cloudy with showers.

Winds: Variable at 3 to 8 mph.

Seas: 1.2 to 1.5 metres or 4 to 5 feet.

Sunset today:  6:41 pm.

While the DDM releases daily weather forecasts for the VI, it has warned that it is not a Meteorological Office and that information shared by the Department is gathered from a number of professional sources contracted by the Department.
