BASSETERRE, St Kitts - Well-known Attorney in the Virgin Islands (VI), Mr Valston M. Graham, who served as Senior Crown Counsel working in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the VI, before taking up the post of DPP in St Kitts and Nevis in 2016, has been accused of vehicular fraud in St Kitts.

According to Times Caribbean on August 17, 2023, under the headline: Former DPP under investigation for alleged vehicular fraud in white-collar crime, it was on August 14, 2023, that a “significant report” was made to the White Collar Crime Unit regarding a case of false pretense. The complaint centered around a vehicle purchase that took place in February 2023.

The allegations

According to the report, Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr McCarta Browne had purchased a vehicle from former Director of Public Prosecutions Mr Valston Graham, formerly of Frigate Bay, who now resides in the [British] Virgin Islands.

“A sum of $40,000.00 was exchanged for the vehicle, with Mr Graham assuring Mr Browne that he was the sole owner. However, a twist emerged in June 2023 when a representative from the Development Bank of St Kitts and Nevis contacted Mr Browne. They revealed that the purchased vehicle was the subject of a bill of sale agreement and should not have been sold,” Times Caribbean reported.

It said efforts were made to address the issue, with Mr Browne reportedly reaching out to Mr Graham to resolve the matter with the bank.

Police reportedly investigating

According to Times Caribbean, the report stated that despite assurances, the situation remained unresolved. The bank demanded the return of the vehicle, while Mr Browne's attempts to contact Mr Graham yielded no results.

The news article said the case has garnered attention from law enforcement.

Meanwhile, in an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), Graham's Attorney, Dr Henry L. Browne KG said, "I am aware of circulation in the press that the police are carrying out [an] investigation into alleged conduct by the former DPP. There was apparently a misunderstanding with respect to the contents of the publication."

He added, "The matter however is in the process of being resolved. Hence at this stage, it would not be appropriate to go into further details. I am confident that the matter will be resolved in short order and at that time, an appropriate statement will be issued."

Not every place is like the BVI where officials can do wrong and get away... In the BVI this would have been hush, hush and secretly disappear.. No wonder a lot of people are still waiting for Britain to step in and straighten out this crooked place..

What a stupid unresearched post. Who is more corrupt than those officials in Britan and are covering it up. Look at all the crooked stuff they did with major unheard of companies of their friends during covid and refused to do a COI. Look at all the corruption prime Ministers and other Ministers did but are allowed to walk free once they simply resign. Look at the non transparent but well organized lynching execercise of a COI in order to try to justify their wicked intentions as well as seem to justify giving friends money for services rendered according to their preauthored script. The list of unaddressed corruption in the UK is endless. The majority of UK citizens are suffering due to poor leadership and bad decisions. By the way the majority of people in the BVI are FULLY AGAINST Britan taking over because it will only get worse and it is a high handed unjustified move on false and well organized lies like they always do.

How do you commit fraud when the seller told you the vehicle was his to sell. You buy it from him and the bank is asking you to return it. The Bank has no business with Valston. They need to get the money for the car from the person who sold it. he must repay the loan.

According to what I read, he sold a vehicle that he knows wasn't his and refused to return the money, refused to accept calls from the victims. If that is so. What do call that.?

I wonder how the buyer got it registered in their name at the DMV? The DMV record was suppose to show that there was still a legal Bill of Sale outstanding on the vehicle with the Bank as the beneficiary. So, what happened there? There is more to this story than what is being told. Therefore, we'll wait for Graham's lawyer to issue that statement.
