MIAMI, Florida, USA– The high-profile trial of former Virgin Islands' Premier Andrew A. Fahie has been delayed yet again and is now scheduled to begin on Monday, January 29, 2024.

The most recent date for the trial to start was January 22, 2024, after Judge Kathleen Williams allowed for hearings from the prosecution and defense team on several motions that were filed recently.

CMC previously reported that Fahie’s defense attorney, Theresa M. Van Vliet, had objected to what she described as the prosecution’s ‘eleventh-hour’ motions and contended at the time that the motions raised crucial issues for the first time.

Those issues, she said, include the intention to present expert testimony and seek a jury instruction on foreign law in one instance. Justice Williams was scheduled to hear arguments relating to the motions ahead of the previous trial date of January 22.

It remains unclear if the hearing of the motions has been completed, hence the reason for the new delay, or if the delay is as a result of another matter arising.

Fahie facing possible life imprisonment if found guilty

Mr Fahie was arrested in Miami on April 28, 2022, and slapped with drug and money laundering conspiracy charges among others, by the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

He is facing possible life imprisonment if convicted on those charges brought against him by the US government.

No BOBO, as bad as it may sound, they are not going to let him come home so easy. The man may face life in prison. When Buju Banton was held in the US by the DEA, they were saying the same thing about he is coming home, he ended up serving time.

Fahie will NOT do life in prison over drug dealings. Even murderers get some time and are let out after years in prison and Fahie is nowhere near the serious crimes that have taken place. He may get some years but no way will he get life. The same goes for Maynard and her son who will do some years and then return home.

Give the defence all these early victories, so they can be seen as fair, so when the case finished and he gets the hammer no one can say, oh, they been bias all along they had their plans bla bla bla...Understand the working of courts..

How is Andrew alone facing life in jail. What happened to the men selling the drugs, they supposed to face the same faith also.
    • FIRE (23/01/2024, 10:24) Like (18) Dislike (5) Reply
Because the men like you stated selling drugs did not get caught on US soil YET. And it goes back to Andrew got caught on US soil on the DEA plane making contact with the DEA marked money. If he did not made contact/touch the money…………. Look at it this way, you all protect and shielded and called down the US when they wanted to extradite a certain person a few years ago.

Deal was in discussion and terms cannot be agreed to by both Party. Foy wants all the evidence to be suppressed and sealed as confidential..The U.S wants him to give up all that he knows and be their key witnessed and Foy refused,. Also the Foy from his very words committed crimes in the BVI, the DEA has the evidence but they do not trust the BVI legal and judicial system so they made sure they got the evidence to try him in America, hence the reason he was invited to America to finish the negotiation on American soil and Foy fall for it.. My opinion is that, He is in trouble..

The US don’t and will never trust the BVI legal and judicial system because they protected and shield the biggest narco dealer in the BVI that they were trying to extradite to the US for running drugs on American soil. And you all think the US is going to let this one go so easy? Andrew is on American soil, the US owns him until he is finish serving his sentence and is deported from America. And there isn’t a darn thing the BVI can do about it.

      @ John,

That's what you really think? SMH. Even after giving information on other people to the DEA, FBI and other authorities, Andrew won't be a free man any time soon.

Andrew was on the DEA radar for a while and they waited patiently for him to step on US soil, The cruise ship conference that he attended was the perfect opportunity to snatch him up. He walking around like the big Dapper Dan thinking he was unstoppable. They lock him up for life, it is what it is.

You are 1000% correct. His nincompoops friends seemed to have forgotten the trouble Andrew had back in the 90s with the US. The Feds has been watching this fool since then, just awaiting the perfect way to bait his behind and ofcouse he fell for it hook, line and sinker. He had ample opportunities to steer clear of this entire situation but we all know how he loves easy money. God don't sleep and I knew and said the same to a trusted friend of mine that Andrew was going to get a rude awakening. Jehovah allowed me to discern that Andrew was mocking him when he knelt at that particular Government function. I believe his w*** knew what was going on. The only persons I feel sorry for are his mom and daughters. Hopefully, whatever the outcome he's able to learn his lesson and make amends to those he has hurt. This entire saga is definitely heartbreaking for the people of these Virgin Islands. May God have mercy on all of us!
