Ex legislator & CoP Vernon E. Malone to lie in state on June 20; Funeral on June 22

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The official funeral of former legislator and attorney, Mr Vernon E. Malone, will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex.

This is according to Government Information Service (GIS), which said Mr Malone’s body will lie in state at the House of Assembly on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

‘True national icon’

Mr Malone, the Virgin Islands’ first local Commissioner of Police, died on Saturday, May 4, 2024.

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), in a statement on May 7, 2024, described Mr Malone as a “true national icon”. He also said the late legislator was a remarkable individual whose ambition and accomplishments will continue to shine as an inspiration to Virgin Islanders for a very long time.

Meanwhile, tributes for the Official Funeral Booklet should be sent to the email hoa@gov.vg by Monday June 10, 2024.

    A very admirable person. May his family find comfort in knowing that Vernon was an exceptional Virgin islander and a chosen child of God, who was with him throughout his earthly journey. May he rest in peace.
