‘Every donation’ ensures no one faces cancer alone- Ms Gloria A. Fahie

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- President of the BVI Cancer Society, Ms Gloria A. Fahie, has expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support received at last weekend’s 2025 CIBC Caribbean Walk for the Cure (WFTC).

The annual walk took place on Saturday, October 25, 2025, starting from CIBC Caribbean’s Wickham’s Cay branch. The walk followed a round-trip seafront route to the well in Sea Cow’s Bay.

According to an October 31, 2025, press release from CIBC Caribbean, 500 registered their support, with more than 200 participants of all ages coming together to walk in unity in the fight against cancer.

Participants proudly wore the pink WFTC shirt, embodying courage for those battling cancer, commitment to raising awareness, and the strength of community in supporting one another.

Ensuring no one faces cancer alone

Ms Fahie also expressed gratitude for the continued collaboration and the spirit of togetherness that defines the event.

“Our community continues to show incredible courage and compassion. Every donation, every step, and every show of support brings us closer to ensuring that no one faces cancer alone.”

Head of Country, CIBC Caribbean, Mr Fabian S. Devonish added, “[The walk] truly reflects this year’s theme — Community. Commitment. Courage…Each step we take in partnership with our sponsors and supporters reinforces our shared commitment to the fight against cancer, our courage to face its challenges, and our belief in the power of community to create meaningful change.”

The Walk for the Cure is one of the largest cancer awareness and fundraising events across the Caribbean. This year’s initiative contributes to the VI’s target of USD $75,000 for 2025, supporting cancer prevention, treatment, and patient assistance programs through the BVI Cancer Society.

Mr Devonish said the annual walk has grown “exponentially” since it was first launched in 2012.
