ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A video shared on social media on Monday, February 21, 2022, is showing several students of the Junior School section of Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) engaged in a brawl in the compound of the High Court and House of Assembly (HoA) in Road Town.

Reports are the fight took place on February 21, 2022, but this could not be confirmed.

In the 25-second video clip, at least two students are seen fighting with another student before others join in swinging punches at the lone student who was getting the upper hand before he was overwhelmed.

While other students cheered on noisily, some students managed to part the fight; however, at least one of the students was eager to continue the brawl and was seen charging at another student when the video clip ends.

One of the persons engaged in the fight was not wearing school uniform.

The fight took place on the doorstep of the HoA building.

Nothing reported to police- RVIPF

Meanwhile, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) has said no reports of such an incident were received.

At publication time, Principal of ESHS Vanessa K. Garraway had not responded to our request for comment.

Why is ESHS business always making news? These things happen in other schools but not reported for the world to see....are you telling me kids not mouthing off, rude to teachers, breaking dress code, smoking and drinking and fighting at other schools? Government leaders, friends and family of ESHS please protect your school image. This is total rubbish, from banning hoodies, kids being kids and having a fight, disagreements with teachers etc why these making news...really??? Who is giving permission to release these stories? Mr Education Minister are you ok with this? Please protect ESHS for the amazing teachers and remaining 1500 plus kids that are fantastic...PROTECT ESHS PLEASE

Other schools like where? Apparently at other schools if these things are done, swift punishment and consequences are meted out so the students know how to act. Why are they not worried about the consequences of their actions at ESHS?

Mr Stoutt I beg you to sit with government, teachers and students. After all the school is named after you and is a representation of you in a way. This is not a good look this 1 school always getting bad name and the good and decent students have to hang their heads in shame for the few bad apples. Mr Stoutt send a message to uplift the spirit of the school that is in your name.

Calling on Mr. Stoutt is shirking our responsibilities; it's his name, so he must be the one to save the school! Maybe the name of the school should be reverted to BVI High School. That way we would all be collectively responsible!

To parents - parenting is not easy, but at the end of the day, they are yours - not the teachers and definitely not Mr. Stoutt's.

Why was Vino contacting the principal when the article states that the fight took place off the school grounds. The principal have all rights not to respond. Call the parents of those involved.

There have been fights at school as long as there has been school. You all are a set of busy bodies inciting crap. Let the school handle the matter. Back in the 50s and 60s there were fights which involved weapons and blood shed but we had no social media to blow it out of proportion and make it look like we are the worst. The incidents y'all making all this fuss about are petty compared to what happens at schools in other places. Stop making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Suspend all in the video, including who video. Set an example by properly penalizing them. Have them spend a night in lock up, it is a High government property and they in school clothes.
