ESHS & Ivan Dawson Primary students to return to school on Friday

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Public and private schools, with the exception of Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) and the Ivan Dawson Primary School, will resume normal classes today, Thursday, October 5, 2023.

Schools and public offices were closed on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, due to the impact of Tropical Storm Philippe on the territory.

Road Town and Pasea were particularly affected by flooding, while some roads were made impassable by rockslides.

The newly constructed ESHS building was heavily affected by flood waters due to a nearby ghut being overwhelmed. Flood waters also penetrated the Ivan Dawson Primary School in Cane Garden Bay.

The Government of the [British] Virgin Islands announced on October 4, 2023, that for the students of the Elmore Stoutt and Ivan Dawson schools, work will be posted in Google Classroom as the teachers will be at those schools assisting with final preparations for students to return on Friday, October 6, 2023.

    Are the interior walls at Elmore Stoutt sheet rock or concrete? If it’s sheet rock the portions that got wet will need to be removed. Moguls will grow

    Please, let the children stay at home until Monday......and open up the school so it can dry out over the weekend ....remember the thing call mold....well it's very dangerous to humans......

      You hit the nail on the head. It just goes to show how much these people care about the children. I thought Irma prove to us that a lot of our jobs can be done remotely. BVI people like them just don't learn.
