DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI- The Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) building project, which has been progressing rapidly since it began on April 4, 2022, is about 70% complete.

This is according to Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs and Sports Hon Sharie B. de Castro (AL).

The Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) is currently overseeing the construction of the buildings to house the senior division of the Elmore Stoutt High School.

This facility which is composed of two classroom blocks, a specialised technical block and an administrative block, has been designed to exact specifications given to the RDA by the Ministry of Education.

‘Approximately 70% complete’

As of today, this building is approximately seventy percent complete,” Hon de Castro said during the Sixth Sitting of the Fourth Session of the Fourth House of Assembly (HoA) at Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola on July 21, 2022.

She said works outstanding "are mostly finishes," including some rendering, finishing of floors, installation of windows and doors, bathroom facilities and external works including a parking lot and road infrastructure.

Madam Speaker I would like to convey my profound appreciation to the Board of Directors of the RDA and the professionals within the RDA and the Ministry for their commitment and tireless effort in executing this project to what is clearly a very high standard.

This project Madam Speaker, by the feats achieved thus far in its execution, is a testament to the will and drive of the Virgin Islands people to work with each other to accomplish great things, and in this case for our most treasured resource; our young people,” Hon de Castro stated.

You have to remember that 70% complete really means there’s 70% left to finish! Good job though, looking forward to it opening for the 2025 school year.

Is giving the Hon. Updates in this project. But this building will not be ready for the start of the new school year.

Yes maybe mid term or ending of the first term but not the start of it

Better yet it's best they say January and take their time to finish the job

70% finish school children say when. My questions to the class are.
    1. Is the electrical works completed?
    2. Are the plumbing and bathroom fixtures
    completed
    3. If it's 70% complete is that just the structural
    formula? If so
    4. What about the AC installation?
    5. What about the furniturs for the classroom and offices etc.

My thoughts are they will not be ready for school in late August. So they need to stop with their foolishness people are not fools.

This project is not 70% complete. Its more like 50% and it will not be finished by September. RDA, stop leading the Minister a stray with false information.
