EMS fully restored @Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital after one-day disruption
Service restored after evening shift
The BVIHSA had advised the public on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, that EMS was available under a temporary arrangement, with the Road Town Fire Station providing emergency response coverage while final preparations were completed to resume normal hospital-based operations.
Normal EMS operations at the Dr D. Orlando Smith Hospital were expected to resume with the evening shift later that day, and by Wednesday morning, the authority confirmed that services had been fully restored.
Public guidance unchanged
Members of the public are still reminded to call 911 in the event of a medical emergency, with emergency response personnel dispatched as required under the restored hospital-based system.
The BVIHSA thanked residents for their patience, understanding, and cooperation during the brief period of adjusted coverage.
