Eligible residents urged to register to vote as deadline nears

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI— With just one week remaining, eligible residents of the Virgin Islands are being urged to register to vote before the Friday, August 28, 2026 deadline to be included on the Territory’s 2026 Preliminary Voters List.

Deadline and Eligibility

The Office of the Supervisor of Elections has confirmed that Friday, August 28, 2026, is the final date for voter registration ahead of the publication of the 2026 Preliminary Voters List. To qualify, applicants must be a Belonger as defined under Section 2(2) of The Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, be at least 18 years of age, and be domiciled in the Virgin Islands.

Required Documents 

According to officials, when registering in person, applicants must present one of the following original documents: a Virgin Islands passport bearing the embossed seal, a Belonger Card, a Belonger Certificate, or a Naturalisation Certificate dated before June 15, 2007.

Registration and voter transfer forms are available from the Office of the Supervisor of Elections in Road Town, the Road Town Post Office, District Offices on Anegada and Virgin Gorda, and the Government Office on Jost Van Dyke. Forms can also be downloaded from the Office of the Supervisor of Elections page on the Government of the Virgin Islands website under the Services tab.

Residents are encouraged to schedule an appointment by contacting the Public Service Customer Service Care Centre at (284) 468-3701 or by booking online through the Government’s appointment portal.

Update Your Registration If You’ve Moved

Officials are also encouraging registered voters who have changed their place of residence within the Territory to update their voter registration by applying for a transfer to their new electoral district or polling division; therefore, proof of residence may include a utility bill such as cable, water, electricity, or telephone, a rent receipt, a lease agreement, or a notarised document confirming the applicant’s new address.
