Election Horse Races cancelled, next race day, March 3, 2019
Amongst the crowds, it was expected that most politicians in the Virgin Islands (VI) would be there to mingle with the people and even the horses. However, according to President of the BVI Horse Owner's Association, Mr Lesmore Smith, the races have been cancelled and rescheduled.
The new date is now Sunday, March 3, 2019, and is in honour of Virgin Islands Party (VIP) founder and late Chief Minister, H. Lavity Stoutt.
February 17, 2019 races off
By then, the VI would have a new Premier and Cabinet and the political horses would have already been in the winner’s circle.
Mr Smith, an At Large- candidate himself under the Progressive Virgin Islands Movement (PVIM) also called ‘NDP 2’, noted, “to put on races on the 17th [of] February would have been too much during this hectic political season.”
