Eklund Z. Adams disqualified! Young Blood is 2025 Calypso Monarch

According to the Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee (VIFFC), it has determined that following an investigation of songs used during the 2025 Calypso Competition at Charlie Neil Frett Festiville on July 26, 2025, four breaches of the rules were found and must result in disqualifications and the reassignment of placements, prizes and titles.
Calypsonians disqualified
Three calypsonians were disqualified for breaching a rule that states, “The Calypso must be your own composition and should not have been presented in any form prior to the competition.”
Those disqualified in part or in full from the 2025 Calypso Competition include the Calypso Monarch, Mr Eklund Z. Adams, who performs under the stage name Officer.
Mr Adams, according to the VIF&FC, will be disqualified for use of the song Victims Crying Out. He will additionally be disqualified for use of the song Set Good Examples.
Joycelyn Searles Duncan, who performs under the stage name Sistah Joyce, will be disqualified for use of the song Ms P. Sistah Joyce had placed First Runner Up.
Meanwhile, Lester Fontelio- with stage name: Le Le- will be disqualified for use of the song Hall of Shame.
The Committee said it has found that all competitors entered the competition using titles and/or songs which were previously used in previous competitions in or outside of The Virgin Islands or were presented in a performance capacity not associated with the 2025 Calypso Competition.
The Committee further determined that the songs are the own composition of the competitors and while words were change to suit the competitions, the Committee has determined that entering a song into a previous competition or performing a song for another purpose other than the 2025 Calypso Competition and repackaging it for the purpose of the 2025 Calypso Competition, despite the introduction of new words, still constitutes a breach of the said rule.
New Monarch crowned
The new 2025 Calypso Monarch is Marcus Mark, who sang under the stage name: Young Blood. Mr Mark will receive $6,000, a trophy, a sash and a crown.
It also means that Mark has retained the crown, having won it in 2024.
The 2025 Calypso Monarch First Runner-Up is Reynold Phillips aka King Paido, who will receive $3,000, a trophy and a sash.
The 2025 Calypso Monarch Second Runner-Up is Jaynene Jno Lewis, whose stage name is Miss Understood. She will receive $2,000, a trophy and a sash.
Meanwhile, the award for Best Lyrics will be re-awarded to Young Blood, who will also receive a trophy, a sash and a $100 cash prize.
The Virgin Islands Festival and Fairs Committee said it does not believe that competitor Eklund Z. Adams, Joycelyn Searles Duncan and Lester Fontelio sought to deceive the VIFFC or Calypso Sub-committee, but interpreted the rules incorrectly, resulting in the breach.
It also said the offences committed in 2025 shall not affect the participation of the competitors in the upcoming year, 2026.

4. VI Festival and Fairs Committee, this is NOT BVI CULTURE…it’s an overrated music fest with most artists promoting vulgarity and promiscuity.
For the IGNORANT FEW WHO SEE IT AS COMPLAINING TRY GET SOME COMMON SENSE AND MORALS/VALUES FROM TALKING OUT OF BOTH SIDES OF YOUR MOUTH!!!
Can’t be calling God’s name in your mouth then praising DEVIL WORK!!!!!!!
And what is really the value in keeping a preliminary show with just 6 participants.
You can down every one a favor and simply shut the ^%$& up. You are not a bvislander but whoever you are you are low class trash that is not accustomed to having anything decent or going anywhere decent. Go back the hell to where you are from and continue eating rice and salt.
