ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A team of eight swimmers, including sisters Amarah and Elinah Phillip, are representing the [British] Virgin Islands at the 23rd edition of the OECS Swimming Championships in Lucia.

The Championships get underway today, November 8 and conclude on Sunday November 10, 2013 at the Rodney Heights Aquatic Complex.

According to National Swimming Coach Mr Elsworth C. Phillip, the team is made up of Jaden Marshal, Nicole Munro, Dominic Munro, Lawton Green, Bradford Green, Giselle Archibald- Bowers, Amarah Phillip and Elinah Phillip.

The Phillip sisters currently reside in the United Kingdom, where they have been improving in their sport considerably and hopes of the Virgin Islands medalling at the event will certainly rest on their young shoulders.

The BVI Swimming Federation (BVISF) has extended appreciation to the corporate sponsors who helped to make the trip to the regional championships possible. Sponsors include Drakes Traders, VI National Bank, Oyster Global Marketing, Maples and Calder, Bitter End Yacht Club, Yates and Associates, BCQS, BVI Olympic Committee, KPMG, Kenny Tee’s, ACE Properties and Peter Island Resort.
