EAST END, Tortola, VI- The East End Police Station has been temporarily closed effective yesterday, Friday, May 29, 2026, for “an initial period of one month,” the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) informed.

According to the RVIPF, in a statement, the closure is necessary to facilitate ongoing interior renovation works, which require staff to vacate the building while the upgrades are carried out.

Policing services remain fully operational

The RVIPF assured residents and members of the public that throughout this period, policing services will remain fully operational.

“Officers will continue regular patrols within the district to ensure the continued safety and security of residents,” the statement added.

Members of the public requiring police assistance may contact officers directly at 368-9415 for immediate response to reports.

The RVIPF apologised for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause and thanked the public for its patience and understanding as improvement works are undertaken.

As we were made to believe, that crimes fighting was one of our top priority mission of the B.V.I. How the that the only Police Station that serves the 7th and 8th district is now closed. Shouldn't at least a part of it remains open for crime serving purposes? Dies make good sense? Yes, $$$ and cents, but not good sense. Agreed with me?

Our largest community now has no police protection. Can our District Representatives meet us at the Stickett to address this problem ASAP? They want our votes, though. We cannot wait for the police to come from town in case we have problems. This is insane!

This fragmented arrangement of police leadership creates inefficiencies, increases costs, limits co-ordination between departments and makes it more difficult for the public to access services and help to reduce crimes

Would you continue to work in a mold infested police station, that causes officers to have visit the doctor quite often

No one said they should work in it because I too wouldn't; however, that abrupt closure is definitely irresponsible behaviour. They knew that the building was sick, hence deal with the entire situation with some sense.

Is there a temporary location where they will serve the people within the Communities?

Why didn't they look for a temporary suitable place before proceeding with these works. The safety of Districts 7 and 8 is quite important especially since crime has been escalating ovetr the past 2 weeks. We know they aren't going to be patrolling as they should because they have become so accustomed to being indoors sitting watching TV, chatting on their phones, surfing the internet, doing their private business whilst on Government time, shacking up with sonebody man or woman, playing Dominoes or gossipping under some tree; and/or by some Food Truck buying greasy food. So are we now to believe that they will be out scouting the criminal element? More than 60% of the Pilice Force needs to go on a Diet. Perhaps, they should use this time to get healthier and also study up on proper Police procedures. These fools are gonna utilise this opportunity to have a grand time doing their own thing. Anybody want to bet?

Is this the best contingency plan, ie., shutting down the station, that the RVIPF has in its operational toolkit? UK-appointed Governor Daniel Pruce like to use his reserve power, putting his “ foot dem” on the scale to keep a highly qualified local from acting ACoP, so that he can appoint his White fellow Briton (Ullger) to act as Acting Commissioner of Police. Is this his approved micromanagement plan of action? Is this Ullger, ACoP plan for serving and protecting the residents of Districts 7 and 8, the most populous area in the country ( some may knit pick and say it is a territory , not a country)? Who going to take the blame for this poor decision, disrespecting the residents of D7/D8? Or the attitude is too hell with those Ns? Some please talk me down out of this tree. Could the RVIPF have rolled out a temporary facility to house the station? Could they could hsve roll out a portable building ? If the Premier had made such a bone head decision, he would have raked over some red hot grape wood coal. But since it is the province of Mount Olympus, everyone is as quiet as a church mouse. We are a bunch of self/hating, self/discriminating bloaks. Are not the residents of D7 /D8 have value?

Business Continuity Plans? No MOU’s to use an alternative facility before closure if this station? What would happen if a major disaster occurred again and their stations were all damaged/compromised? Wreaks of a lack of contingency planning.

    Who to blame in management?
