LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI- Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Hon Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) has said the commissioning of the East End-Long Look Pump Station is an election promise fulfilled.

Speaking at the commissioning on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Premier Wheatley said the East End-Long Look Sewerage Project has been long overdue but has seen tremendous progress under Minister for Communications and Works Hon Kye M. Rymer (R5), whom he called hardworking.

This promise of a modern sewerage project was promised to the people of East End/Long Look for a long time, with money budgeted and commitments made, but work was never started, and the funds were diverted to other things.

Thank you for your patience

“I made a solemn pledge to the people of the 7th District, and by extension all the residents of the surrounding communities, that if they elected me as their representative, this neglect and disrespect would not continue…. Today’s commissioning is proof that we are keeping that promise,” he said.

He said this milestone demonstrates that the government is steadily, deliberately, and transparently working to deliver on the commitments made to the entire Virgin Islands (VI).

“To the residents of this community, thank you for your patience, your advocacy, and your belief that this day will come. Today, we celebrate progress. Tomorrow, we will continue the work.”

Work continues

Premier Wheatley said the East End‑Long Look Sewerage Project is being implemented in three phases.

“This sewerage system is not just a piece of infrastructure; it is an investment in public health, in dignity, and in the quality of life of our people.”

He added that a reliable sewerage system means cleaner surroundings, safer water, and a healthier environment for families, businesses, and future generations.

This project is part of the government’s broader commitment to build a Virgin Islands where development is not concentrated in one area but shared across all communities.

“We are not yet finished - but we are well on our way. And I assure you that my Government remains committed to completing the East End-Long Look Sewerage Project in the shortest practical time, with the quality and accountability that the people deserve, including the people of the 8th District.”
