EE/LL Club appoints Tennis Director

EAST END/LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI – The East End/Long Look Tennis Club has announced they will be holding a Kids Day on Tuesday September 9, 2014, to welcome their new Director of Tennis, Mr. Darran Ferre.

Originally from Portsmouth, England, Mr Ferre has been coaching for 20 years and played throughout England and Europe in club tournaments and Leagues.

“I enjoyed playing in England and attained a good level playing tournaments and leagues throughout the UK and Europe. I started teaching at quite young age and coaching tennis has allowed me to travel, meet and teach some fascinating people and also introduce tennis to many children.”

However more recently Ferre has been based out of Thailand and just over a year ago was appointed as Tennis Pro by the Regent Phuket Cape Panwa where he launched an academy aimed at coaching youngsters to play at a high level.

His stated goal whilst in the Virgin Islands is to continue the work of Carol and Patrick Mitchell and give the gift of playing tennis to as many as possible and help every individual achieve their potential.

According to Carol Mitchell she and Husband Patrick started a Tennis Programme at Fat Hogs Bay in 2010 and in just four years are now in a position to employ a Professional Tennis Director.

“It’s a great achievement and we’re grateful to Mr. Ferre for accepting the position to help us grow the sport of tennis in the Territory.”

The Kids Tennis Day will start at 4pm on Tuesday September 9, 2014.

      name one qualified Tennis Coach who is "local" or even one who has shown interest in attending courses ?

        That's because being a tennis coach is not an easy Job and also because they (locals) don't know about tennis (technique wise)

    This is what the BVI Tennis needs. I really hope he does a good job, so that the sport can grow and more competition can be made.
