SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Principal of the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School (ETPS), Ms Sybil S. Hodge has commended members of the public for coming out in their numbers to support the school’s annual Christmas concert, and it is for this cause that the goal of achieving an upgraded library and perhaps more instruments for the school’s fungi band is closer to becoming a reality.

On Tuesday December 6, 2016, the school compound was packed with people from all walks of life and a small contribution was collected at the door. In addition, there were Johnny cakes, fried chicken, drinks among other items on sale. Ms Hodge said all proceeds will be channeled through the two areas of immediate need.

“We are focused mainly right now in getting our library up and running,” she said. “We have one [library] but we are trying to upgrade it and we are also trying to get some instruments, if you notice we have a lot of instruments but some of them are not ours, so we would like to have our own for our fungi band because we have our very own fungi band.”

Well executed programme

The programme, which got underway at 7 P.M. and ended at 9 P.M., saw each participating class displaying their talents in the form of skits, caroling, and even a puppet show.

“Every year we have a Christmas concert to bring in the Christmas season and each class had an active role in the programme tonight,” Hodge informed. “We had a variety: we had a skit from the past, we had the violins, we had a senior choir, a junior choir, the puppet show with children depicting dances and combining it with songs and dance. I think it was very well executed.”

She stated that the concert is a highly anticipated event for the student population, who looks forward to displaying their many talents.
