SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI – With pre-season warm up games all done and after rain washed out the first games, the BD Basketball Inter Primary School League finally began on Tuesday November 5, 2013 with Ebenezer Thomas beating the Seventh Day Adventists 24-15 on the outdoor court in Sea Cows Bay.

With the shock withdrawal of two time defending champions Althea Scatliffe Primary School still reverberating around the circuit, the two teams from District 3 took to the court with a mixture of nervousness and excitement.

Ebenezer Thomas settled the quickest and took an early lead on their way to a comfortable victory led by sharp shooter Shamiek Lettsome who top scored with 12 points.

Malaki Smith and K’Tenay Maduro both added 6 points.

The Seventh Day Adventists' top scorer was Enrique Jafarally, who notched 6 points and Michael Rickets, who finished with 4.

Action continues today in the Multi Purpose Sports Complex with Alexandrina Maduro Primary School facing Ivan Dawson Primary at 4.30 P.M.

On Thursday, Cedar International host St Georges Primary and then on Friday Willard Wheatley Primary will face one of the tournament favourites, Joyce Samuel Primary, in the Multi Purpose Sports Complex. That game is followed by Alexandrina Maduro Primary playing Isabella Morris Primary.

Many questions still remain as to why Althea Scatliffe Primary School pulled out of the League, but if nothing else, a new name will appear on the Trophy at the end of what promises to be an action packed championship.

We need a covered court in sea cow's bay. After all the minister of sports claims he's from sea cow's bay and went to school there.
