EAST END, Tortola, VI- The East Action Committee was put together only about a month ago, but it is already making a positive impact in the community.

The committee, which comprises persons from the 7th and 8th Districts, has donated 2 smart televisions to Willard Wheatley Primary School.

According to one member of the committee, L. Allen Wheatley, the committee had discussions with the principal of Willard Wheatley and found out there was a need for an air condition unit in the principal’s office and 3 flat-screen televisions for the classrooms.

Mr Wheatley said the group was able to donate two of the televisions, thanks to sponsorship from two members of the committee who wish to remain anonymous.

The TVs were installed in the classrooms on Saturday.

Mr Wheatley said there has also been a request for playground equipment by the school and that will be looked at soon.

Purpose of East Action Committee

Regarding the East Action Committee, Mr Wheatley said “The purpose was to see how we as members of the community could get together and best assist with addressing problems within the 7th and 8th District.”

He said discussions so far have entailed matters pertaining to Emancipation Festival, the Willard Wheatley and Francis Lettsome Primary Schools.

The Committee will also be looking to stage fundraisers to realise some of their projects. So far, a fish fry is planned for the end of October.

The East Action Committee, many thanks for the two flat screen tv that you have donated to the Willard's Wheatley Primary school. Most of us local adults, and teenagers too, know that that the deceased Willard Wheatley is the Grand Father of our current B.V.I Premier: The Hon. Natalio Sujande Wheatley that was voted for a second term (D7) in the B.V.I Legislative body. Should not the all public Schools in the B.V.I be given flat Screen TVS as was Willard's Wheatley Primary school has, owing to the fact that our current Premier is also our Finance Minister, among other positions under his leadership? If not him, who? If not before the year's end, when? Surely we can afford it, because of the fact that millions of our tax dollars are wasted on unnecessary ventures ignorantly without clear headedness and thoughtful foresight. This is sad, very sad.

Honest accountability is like a beggar, begging his employees for his own processions. This too is is sad, very, very.

If to you the above makes sense, vote Like, but if to you it doesn't, then vote dislike.

Great job by the East Action Committee(EAC), meeting and providing an invaluable community need and service. Nevertheless , IMO the MEC should be providing these basic equipment/services to facilitate and promote basic learning as the territory moves Full STEAM head. Is this just a catchy slogan? Surely, with a $400, 000, 000, 000 plus O &M budget we meet basic school needs? We must prioritize expenditures. To deliver the best services to the most people, we must maximize budget efficiency. We can do anything we want but we cannot do everything. We must prioritize. Basic needs over wants. Curious, what happened to ELAC? Is EAC doing the same thing as ELAC? No competition and let’s ease up on the photo-op nah mon. It throws shade and takes away from the real intent. This is about the kids and should be. Yes, all of us like praise but…..

Just like the early days of when he was on the campaign in 2023. His handlers need to give him a bit more training.
