PURCELL ESTATE, Tortola, VI- An early morning fire on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, razed two small buildings in Port Purcell, leaving one person homeless.

According to reports, the fire allegedly started in one of the buildings that was unoccupied but quickly spread to the other building that was occupied by one person. Both buildings were constructed mostly of wood.

One person who lives in the area said it was around 4:00 AM when he heard screams of "fire, fire, help, help" and when he ventured outside he saw the buildings engulfed by fire.

Nothing was reportedly saved; however, the lone occupant of one of the buildings was unharmed.

Arson?

Persons on the scene were quick to speculate that the fire may have been an act of arson.

Police and fire officers are currently on the scene conducting investigations.

    So hard for some people. Government should offer to house them in Joe's Hill. A lot of peoples lives could be helped up their. Our money already been spent and doing nothing. Let's use it to help people.
