ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Dwight Hill has announced his intention to contest the upcoming 2027 general elections in the Virgin Islands, asking the public for their support as he prepares to enter the race.

In his video message on Facebook, Hill said he is excited to share his vision for the future of the territory and described his candidacy as both a privilege and a responsibility. He also confirmed his plans to enter the political race to our News Centre.

"Yes, it is my intention to do so," Mr Hill told Virgin Islands News Online.

Hill, who has served as a member of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force since March 10, 2000, added that he has dedicated his career to improving the territory for all who live, work, and visit there.

'VI is at a crossroads'

Speaking with a strong appeal for unity and progress, Hill said, “Today, we stand at a crossroads; our territory faces challenges that demand whole action and unwavering commitment. I stand before you, not merely as a candidate but as a fellow citizen who shares your hopes, your dreams, and your determination to build a brighter future.”

He added, “Together, we have the power to create, change, and forge a path towards prosperity, equality, and justice for all.

Hill further stated, “Like many of you, I played on these streets and attended local schools.”

'Territory needs fresh solutions'

He emphasised his personal connection to the community, adding that the territory needs fresh solutions and new leadership to address the issues affecting everyday life.

Among the priorities Hill highlighted were better schools, safer streets, stronger local businesses, more jobs, improved salaries for pensioners, and a government that listens more closely to its citizens.

He said these goals are essential to building a territory where young people will want to raise their own families.

Division or unity

Hill added that the choice before voters is one of division or unity, doubt or hope, and declared that he chooses hope. He called on residents to walk that path with him as he seeks to help shape a future built on fairness, equality, and opportunity for all.

He further stated that the election is about more than choosing a leader, describing it as an opportunity to shape the destiny of the territory for generations to come.

Hill ended by asking for the people’s vote and their voice in building a better Virgin Islands.

Let me preface my comment by saying this: I'm not a xenophobe, I myself ain't born in the BVI but I grew up here all my life.

How can one announce their intention to run for the BVI elections via Facebook and their Facebook photo and banner are a Vincy flag?? There's a disconnect with that. I respect and appreciate being proud of your heritage but let's be real, Myron does already catch heat and he dont even have up a flag!

    PS. Myron for Premier!

He doesn’t have Vincentian heritage. Both of his parents are Virgin Islanders. His wife is Vincentian.

The VI Festival and Fairs Committee needs to organise a comedy show to close out the 2026 August Festival. This joker could be the headliner.

SIR Hill will be ok. Those we have now are not the best. 4th district is the most unclean district in the Virgin Islands. I think the rep is a woman. Low Estates, Long Bush, central road town are terrible. The roads are terrible; car wash all over and derelict cars in every corner.

@m&m. Seems like you have a personal beef with the 4th district rep. Have you been to the 7th, 8th, and 9th districts? You should have before you come on here blogging venom.

nothing just like he did in the police force. Someget a job because they can not do nothing else. They had him riding in the vehicle doing nothing. I always wonder if he got the job out of the shortage of qualified applicants or because he born here or because of who he fa.

Heat dis ya! Dwight Hill. Who is dis “gide”? A former elected member was once referred to as to as an empty kerosene pan, an old unit of measure in the BVI. The dude talk about change, new solutions, etc, but the commentary noted nothing, nada, zero. It was empty like an empty kerosene pan. I guess he can stand for election. Does the BVI a tiny dot in the Caribbean Sea let every ToM, Dick, Jasmine, Abdul, Francisco, etc stand for election. Another commentator:blogger compares the BVI to the boil frog metaphor. The BVI is negotiation with the UK for a new constitution. Is it going to come back with an empty kerosene pan with the same old crap dat is as messed up as Hogan’s Goat, eh? A broken clock is right twice a day. The BVI is at fork in the road. And if it does not know where it is going any turn/path will take it there, clean off the cliff.

Instead of dismissing people from the get go, be a little more open minded. They just might make better leaders than some of the well spoken, well dressed ones that you all keep falling for every time. The same ones who do next to nothing besides traveling the world and giving themselves raises. Back in the day our leaders were simple people without college degrees and many of them served better than these people that you all continue to get fooled by.

I some ways I agree but this man is a poppy show. Did you see his new up date. I am wondering if he really was a police. I am not a doctor but I could spot him. There is a difference between acting crazy and mentality ill.

Acting crazy and mentally ill are two different things. I can not believe he was in the police force at all. He behaves unstable. I found him out when he was doing a police matter for me.
