ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Twenty-nine year old Dwight A. Hutchinson Jr is the winner of Gen Y Factor 2019 ‘Battle of the Sexes’ competition held at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, Tortola, this evening, June 22, 2019.

Hutchinson captured the hearts of the audience and, most importantly, the judges with his powerful voice to beat out the competition finalists that included the likes of Yohance T. Smith, Mya K. Brown, Hunter T. Christopher, Dwaine B. Frett and Simone D. Phillip.

Hutchinson received a cheque for $2000 from Digicel, among other prizes.

The Gen Y Factor winner hails from Grove Hill, East End and is well known for his melodious performances in church.

According to the Department of Information, Hutchinson’s singing abilities were captured on video while performing at the Seventh-day Adventist Church at the tender age of six.

Dwight says he draws inspiration from persons who have made significant contributions in his life such as his cousin Clayvorne Pope, and his Primary School teachers. Dwight’s favourite artists are Fred Hammond, and Smokey Norful, while his favourite genre of music is Gospel. Dwight also plays the guitar and saxophone.

During the next five years, Dwight sees himself producing and singing Gospel songs while promoting love and unity throughout the community.

In the next six to ten years Dwight wants to collaborate with influential Gospel Singers and become a world renowned international Gospel artist.

Coincidentally the 2017 Gen Y Factor winner, Shauna-Kay Miller, also started singing in the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
