LONDON, UK- The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth II's husband, has died aged 99, Buckingham Palace has announced.

The prince married Princess Elizabeth in 1947, five years before she became Queen, and was the longest-serving royal consort in British history, with more than seven decades of public service.

A statement from Buckingham Palace today, April 9, 2021, said: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

The couple had four children, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Prince Phillip was well-known for his public gaffes and off-the-cuff comments before retiring from royal duties, due to old age, in 2017.

He was. I met him on his last visit to the BVI, either in the late 80s or early 90s.

Excuse me, how do you know he was a "good" man? How do you define Good?

He was a lucky bastard who married in to a family/situation in which he did not have to struggle nor did he nor the queen have to look for a job.. it would be good if other people had the opportunity to serve as the so-called royal family.
In any case may his soul be at peace.

He was not a bastard, unlike many in the Caribbean.
According to the records ,he was of legitimate birth to parents that were wed in Holy matrimony.

Why focus on his gaffes and off the cuff comments. The man faithfully served his country during world war 2 and had many more positive attributes. Our Elders taught us if you cannot say anything nice say nothing at all.Tired of all this uk bashing and disrespect. The woman has lost her husband of 73 years and the family grieves.I met him on his solo visit here some years ago and he was quite charming.
May he Rest In Peace after a long life of service

Based on my Christian learnings in the Church for 80 plus years, his life on Earth was Blessed. We should all be so favoured.
