LONG BUSH, Tortola, VI – The establishment formally known as Club Diplomat is to be relaunched on October 24, 2014 after some refurbishment and rebranding and is expected to offer a sophisticated atmosphere for the elegant mature patron.

Speaking to this news site recently, new manager of the business now called Dreams Night Club Marlene A. Gumbs outlined her plans for the entertainment landscape through the establishment.

The establishment is still owned by her father Keith ‘Stone’ Gumbs and Camille Gumbs.

“I chose to embark on this journey because my father is getting older and he cannot work as he used to, so he asked me to take on the journey for him so that the club could keep its standards and maintain the level that it has had all these years it has been in operation,” she said.

“I have taken on the journey as operations manager because it is still owned by my father so I’m just operating it for him,” she said. “I hope to establish it so that people in the Virgin Islands, the grown folks have somewhere to go,” she said.

She said while the changes made to the club have been made, those have not been major and the real change is in what the club will offer in terms of the type of patron it hopes to attract.

“The objective is to attract the mature people, where they can come out and enjoy themselves, no violence or anything on that level, just a place where you could dance, relax and just take your mind off anything that’s going on,” she said.

The club will operate on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. “On Sundays there would be happy hour all evening, there will be specials on wines. But on Fridays and Saturdays it will be the normal club nights,” she said. She plans to have a range of different music. “I will be using the locals deejays in the BVI…local deejays, international deejays and international artists will be coming to the club,” she said.

Whole the grand opening will be on October 24, 2014, she has been operating under the new name for the past two months. “It has been going well. It has been good for the last two months…there had been some setbacks here and there but I tried not to let those deter me because it is a positive movement so I try to stay in a positive direction,” said Gumbs.

“My age limit is 25 and over but there will be nights where 21 and over will be allowed,” she said.

“The club formerly known as Club Diplomat is one of the longest surviving clubs in the VI. My father’s dream was always and still is to give the people of the Virgin Islands a place to go and enjoy themselves in elegance and style.  However over the years it has been rented by many persons but now it is back in the hands of family,” she said.

“Therefore I have embarked on this journey to run the club for my father by fulfilling his dreams. That is why I renamed the club to Dreams Nightclub with the hope that the people of the British Virgin Islands can fulfil their dreams.

The establishment’s Assistant Manager is Stacy Hodge and its public relations agent is Charlene Stevens.

“The club will host themed parties for all seasons and holidays (local & International entertainment) baby showers, private parties, engagement and wedding parties, birthday parties, and the list goes on,” she said.

“My father has held a standard for his club and I will continue to maintain his standard. Dress with class and elegance. Therefore no slippers, (both females and Males), no white shirts, no durag, no sneakers (depends on the function) no ripped jeans, no baggy jeans, and no big bags,” she stated.

I'm sorry, but nobody is going up inside Long Bush well dressed. Fix up the entire area, bring back the confidence the place once had. It may be a nice club inside, but outside it's a bunch of hoodlums mimicking what they see on BET and worldstar. Sad.

You trying to create an atmosphere for a mature crowd but have a poster with young guys throwing up gang signs. Not trying to be negative and wish you the best just saying might want to consider changing that poster

You don't know the VI hand sign when you see one? It's a form of communication not only used by gangs…..jeese.
