Dr the Hon Wheatley is acting Premier until Nov 22, 2021

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Deputy Premier and Minister for Education, Culture, Youth Affairs, Fisheries and Agriculture, Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7) is currently acting as Premier of the Virgin Islands.

This comes as Premier, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1) is currently absent from the Virgin Islands for more than forty-eight hours commencing today, November 13, 2021.

Dr Wheatley was appointed by the Governor, John J. Rankin, CMG under section 55(1) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007. 

The order states, that if the Premier is expected to be absent from the Virgin Islands for more than forty-eight hours the Governor shall authorize the Deputy Premier to perform the functions conferred on the Premier.

Hon Fahie is expected to return to the territory on November 22, 2021.
