ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Word just reaching our news desk from sources close to the situation is that local Chief Executive Officer of the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA), Dr Ronald E. Georges proceeded on Annual Leave today, September 21, 2020, and is not likely to return to the post.

The Financial Comptroller, Mrs Angelina John, according to reports, will be in charge until an acting CEO is selected and confirmed by the BVIHSA Board of Directors.

Dr Georges unlikely to return as CEO

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports are there is a last minute option, if Dr Georges does not find another opportunity within the public sector, that he could be back as the CEO, “but it is the last resort,” according to sources.

Another source on the BVIHSA Board told our news centre; however, that it is unlikely Dr Georges will return as CEO.

One month leave requested & granted- Dr Georges

Dr Georges confirmed to Virgin Islands News Online this evening he had requested and was granted one month's leave.

When asked; however, to respond to reports he was unlikely to return, Dr Georges declined to comment.

The well qualified Dr Georges was appointed CEO at BVIHSA in October 2018, replacing Trinidad national Mrs Paula G. Chester-Cumberbatch, who served for two years as CEO of the authority.

Maybe just maybe he’s willing to put his dreams into action and begin a private practice of health care. Whatever he chose to do I support him...

It has nothing to do with COVID-19, all in house drama. And by the way Ms. Cleo, after scamming everyone with the Jamacian accent on TV ain’t you suppose to be dead already?

@ Ms Cleo - BLM BVi is a joke. They founders hate themselves. They they marched for George in the USA but can’t for the 13 year old who was Killed years ago. The BVI had to killings and hold up in September 2020 and not one of the voices from BLM BVI said anything. It’s all a show and everyone in it for the wrong reason. Ps called BVITB and ask That Frazer and Jones be laid off. The BVI just put out a bVI love logo but doesn’t reflect on some employees of the said BVITB

Keeping changing the Head and not the body. Every CEO will bite the dust until they change the body. To busy sabotaging each other. They’ve only just begun. Wait you will hear more.

Coming from the inside I will agree. Place need help. Dr June Samuel would have been the ideal pick when she applied same time as Georges. He was there before walked off after getting rid of some people. He came back this time with same crap. Remove people etc but you see God He doesn't sleep. This is your home health establishment and instead of working on improving it he was doing otherwise with those he put in position as he came in. We want the best for all and should always work together. Now let Dr June Samuel, one with lots of wisdom about the establishment help move up in the right direction.

        @Amen:
Are you her PR person or the doctor herself. Certainly you don’t believe what you just wrote. She will be worst than him especially if she have Ghetto Diva as her sidekick. Ask most of the doctors who have worked with her. Very few have anything good to say about her. Her in charge and her bestie Ghetto Diva, we definitely going to hell in a hand basket. Not a good choice.

I don’t know much about Dr. Samuel from the perspective of a colleague (nor am I a friend or family member) but as someone who was once frustrated but our local medical service, I can say that she is one of the most compassionate medical professionals that I have ever interacted with. I will be forever grateful to her.

Where is the medical report on the Covid-19 death in the BVI? Is the game to wait long enough and then burn the report so no one is responsible?

Did they really think this was the time to get rid of the CEO? But then again the truth will reveal itself with who becomes the new CEO. As the finance person is only there for a short time.

It’s truly sad that Dr. Georges won’t be there. Our biggest problem, we don’t like being told to do our job. The minute someone takes up a senior position and starts trying to get us to do what we are being paid to do, we call our connections in Government who will take steps to remove the senior person. We all then go back to our slackness of doing what we feel, when we feel. It’s the mentality of us BVIslanders. It’s our problem with everywhere we are employed. We want to work when we feel like and don’t want anyone to tell us that we are being paid to do our job.
Dr. Georges, you are a man of integrity and you will succeed wherever you go.
I just pray the hospital raises their standards when it comes to work ethics. After all, it is the lives of our loved ones at stake when the lazy staff don’t perform to their maximum. This doesn’t apply to all workers but the lazy ones know who they are and they know who they complain to to get rid of their seniors so they can continue to be lazy workers. Very sad.

I am not familiar with HSA but do not know the reasons behind this situation, but I truly identify with what you have surmised. I see it happening in other Government Departments and Statutory Bodies as well. There are some lazy good for nothings that sit on their laurels and do nothing, but complain to their contacts and it is taken as gospel. I say let these people do what ever $h!t they want and let the ship go whichever direction it choses, including hell, because at the end of the day its those same lazy @$$ people will be kept on and you will be gone through the door. And at times, its just some little fool fool people that have the biggest connections.

For the past few years I have seen lots of Jokers in the CEO job.
