Door opened for '13 brand new [elected] people’- Claude O. Skelton-Cline
Speaking during his show, Honestly Speaking on ZBVI 780 AM on December 9, 2025, the social commentator, who has called himself an ally of all the elected representatives in the VI, expressed his disappointment in the country’s elected officials, whether they are members of the sitting Virgin Islands Party (VIP) government, the National Democratic Party (NDP), or the newly formed The Alliance.
“NDP and PVIM have merged, so we hear. They still can’t tell us who the leader is. That’s how crazy we are…they’re still fighting. That’s why I tell you, individually you talk to them, they got good sense. You put them in a room together, all the sense go out the window.”
A weak gov’t can be made to look strong
Skelton-Cline added that while part of the country is dissatisfied with the VIP government, “Even a weak government can be made to look strong.”
He chastised them saying they are not learning from what happened yesterday and are bound to repeat the mistakes tomorrow.
As for The Alliance, Skelton-Cline said, “They're a gang of three, maybe, I don’t know if they still have three. They off in the deep end. Again, even if you are dissatisfied with the sitting government, how are you going to overcome the sitting government when you remain in yesterday?”
What’s in the VI’s best interest?
Skelton-Cline continued that the people involved in the old NDP, current NDP, The Alliance are the same people who have been there since 2017 or 2018.
“You all want the people of this country to follow that. Yes, the Virgin Islands Party got their issues, but you’re making them look like the right and the beautiful because of your behaviour. What are you going to do about yesterday?”
Skelton-Cline said he thinks it may be time for “13 new people to come forward”.
He explained that all 13 new prospective representatives may not get elected because of the culture in the VI.
“We sacrifice charisma for competence, popularity for accountability, likeability for ability, familiarity for ability…and you can’t change a culture in one political cycle, but maybe…this opened the door for this country to be truly presented with 13 brand new people.”
He asked the question that first needs to be asked is “What is in the best interest of this country?”

Not you and not them.
Santa Nat came riding by,
Smiling sweet with pure joy in his eye.
Santa Nat came riding by,
Happy he saved us from the COI.
Santa Nat, you lookin’ bold,
“Ragga man, I got things in control.
Tell me what you want this year,
Ah bringin’ blessings from anywhere.”
I don’t want no blight Christmas with Walwyn trio,
Just give me the right Christmas with Premier Na-tal-lio.
Because a blight Christmas does only bring stress,
I want nothing but success,
The BVI blessed,
And steady VI progress.
Santa Nat clear his throat to speak
Saying my request was truly unique.
Opportunity floating everywhere,
From RT to VG improvements in the air.
Development rising for all to see,
Vision, Integrity, Progress from VIP.
Runway opening doors across the sea,
New markets boosting the economy.
Santa Nat say he had one more ting,
And this one go’ surely make opposition sting.
With a hundred mil ready to share,
This go’ be a very green VIP year.
I don’t want no blight Christmas with Skelton duo,
Just give me the right Christmas with Premier Na-tal-lio.
Because a blight Christmas does bring misery,
I want to honor history, sustain the remedy,
And move with VIP to bring prosperity
the current 13 should simply go home using their retirement money
look at our little territory in 2025 poor water distribution, poor public roads yet the government flies all over universe using the tax money
What is the benefit to the infrastructure for these trips: I bet you come middle 2026 the administration will be knocking down all of our doors looking votes
this little country went from dirt roads back in the 60s: yesterday while driving along the roads full of rain water and just falling into all manner of potholes
