‘Don’t believe that the British won’t step in! – Doug Wheatley
He was speaking on his Speak Out BVI radio show heard on ZBVI 780 AM on Tuesday September 9, 2014.
“I heard some guys saying that now we are spending our own money and putting on our own pot and nobody can tell us anything. That’s always a mistake when we think we’re at that point. We are still a colony of Britain and you would be surprised with Britain can do to us if the need arises,” said Wheatley.
“I always say the British don’t have permanent friends, they have permanent interests. So as close as you are to Britain and you think that you’re friends, when their interest take precedence they will go over you because they have permanent interests and if you cross them with that then you will find out,” he said.
“I have known Governors of this Territory who have called down to Speakers of the House of Assembly for a consultation at Government House to talk about conduct and how things are done generally. That has happened in the past. So it is not a matter that we can go into the House and do what we want and so forth. There comes a point beyond which they will not settle and you will be called down,” he said, referring to the recent exchange of words between Government and Opposition on the way the Eighth Sitting of the Third Session of the Second House of Assembly was ended.
“The Legislature of the Virgin Islands comprises 13 elected members and Her Majesty the Queen, so we cannot abuse the House, we can’t do whatever we feel like doing in the House…there are protocols that have to be followed, Standing Orders that have to be followed etc.,” Wheatley said.

Especially on our cultural, religion and politics status, what tends to tickle me most about you is the fact that
somewhere, somehow you in most cases you don't emphasis enough on the reckless behavior of the VIP PARTY in the manner in which they manage TAX PAYERS money.
