In the age category 14-16, Mickey Joseph of District 6, with 59 rebounds was awarded for most rebounds as well as Most Valuable Player (MVP) for both the league and the championship. "The tournament focuses on kids from 7-16 years of age. There was nothing creative for the youths to do in Tortola, so this activity we created for them. The league is from village to village to ensure that everyone gets to meet one another," said Mr. Brian 'Bash' Brewley, Organizer of the League.

Mr. Brewley stated that the government has actually plugged into the programme. "It is really important to be interested in the youths and the way they are going."

This is the 3rd year of the BD Basketball District King League but the first time it has been named in honour of Tre Erickson, a young basketball player who died tragically last year in a scooter accident.
