ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Digicel paid a surprise visit to staff at the Road Town Clinic yesterday, November 8, 2013 as part of its Christmas promotion launch dubbed, ‘Brighten Someone’s Christmas’.

Staff were treated to a special lunch and two staff members, Ann Husbands and Christian Allen, were each selected to receive a gift of one Samsung phone courtesy of the telecommunications giant.

During the presentation at the Road Town Clinic, Digicel’s Marketing and Public Relations Executive, Jasmine Perez, said she felt like Santa Claus in sharing the surprise with staff members.

“One of the angles that we are going for in this campaign is reaching out to the community into all of the different groups that might not get so much recognition and try to brighten their day just a little bit,” Perez said.

Manager of the Road Town Health Centre, Cherry-Ann George-Smith expressed gratitude for Digicel’s consideration and noted that the centre is the largest primary healthcare facility in the Virgin Islands and provides a range of services to approximately 15,000 persons, nearly fifty percent of the territory’s population.

Digicel’s ‘Brighten Someone’s Christmas’ launch was rolled out earlier in the day on the ‘Morning Ride’ Show on ZRod 103.7 FM, hosted by Paul ‘Gadietz’ Peart.

In a release issued yesterday, Digicel said as part of the promotion, customers are given a chance to win a share in $40,000 worth of prizes.

According to the release, thanks to Digicel, along with partners Road Town Wholesale and Delta Petroleum, this exciting six-week promotion will reward one major prize to a lucky winner each week–as well as thousands of Rite Way food vouchers, Delta gas vouchers, phones, credit giveaways and cash. In addition, all eligible customers will be automatically placed in a drawing, set for the 19th of December, to win a life changing $12,000 in cash, to cover their rent or mortgage for a year. Other weekly prizes include a 50” TV and home entertainment system, a year of free phone and internet service, a year of free Delta gas, and $1500 in Digi-cash.

Meanwhile, Digicel’s CEO Declan Cassidy stated, “This promotion was designed with our customers and the greater community in mind. This holiday season, Digicel would like to offer a Brighter Christmas to many, giving more people the opportunity to win. The $12,000 rent or mortgage for a year will be life changer for a lucky customer in the current tough economy. Entering couldn’t be simpler – top up $15 or more, join Digicel, pay your bill on time and in full, or activate a 4G data plan. We simply want to reward our loyal customers for doing what they normally do during the holidays. They help us keep going so we want to return the favour.”

Cassidy announced that Digicel are giving their customers many opportunities to win a share of $40,000 in cash and prizes in the unique Brighten Someone’s Christmas promotion that runs from November 8th to December 19th. He said that over the next six weeks, customers will also be able to get the latest offers on phones and plans both in store and at a series of community road shows throughout the islands. The five weekly road shows will feature exciting games, raffles and entertainment.

“It’s not just about top up or sales this holiday season. Digicel will be out in the community rewarding people who really need it. You will see the Digicel team out and about Brightening Christmas throughout the islands. This is happening from day one of the campaign when we will be providing lunch for the hardworking staff at the Road Town Clinic and rewarding two outstanding nurses for their dedication in the field,” Cassidy said. In addition to this, Digicel has partnered with Infinite Solutions to Brighten Christmas by donating a much needed projector to the Althea Scatliffe School. “This year, we are aiming to Brighten Christmas for as many customers as possible along with deserving members of the community,” Cassidy said.

How to Enter
Prepaid Digicel customers will receive an automatic entry into the weekly draw when they top up $15 or more or by becoming a new prepaid customer.

Postpaid customers will get one entry for every month they have paid their bills in full and on time throughout 2013 while persons who sign on to any postpaid plan will be entered.
