ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Digicel Group today announced a new CEO for the British Virgin Islands.

Declan Cassidy arrives in the Territory this week to take up his new appointment as successor to Alan Bates, who has moved on to take up a new challenge in Digicel’s Dutch Caribbean operations.

Having worked in the ABC Islands (Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao), in Honduras and the Cayman Islands since July 2006, Cassidy has considerable experience across all Sales and Marketing channels and brings a strong focus in developing and growing new markets. He is a highly experienced telecoms professional and is tasked with continuing to build the BVI business starting with the launch of 4G later this year.

“I am very excited to be joining the team in the BVI,” says Cassidy. “The success achieved to date in terms of delivering best value, best service and best network has positioned Digicel BVI as a key player in the telecoms market in not only mobile solutions but also becoming a significant ICT solutions provider. All this while demonstrating its commitment to the community, is very impressive”.

He continues: “I am also looking forward to meeting as many of our customers as possible as Digicel continues its drive to become the number one telecommunications provider in the British Virgin Islands with the launch of 4G technology.”

Prior to joining Digicel, Cassidy worked at SMART Telecom and EIRCOM in his native Ireland.
