SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador- Deya Erickson is through to the finals of the 100m hurdles at the San Salvador 2023 CAC Games after qualifying with a time of 13.92 in her semi-final heats on Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

A meet record was set in Deya’s heat when Jasmine Camacho Quinn won the race in 12.60 - a Paris 2024 Olympics qualifier.

Deya, who made her first CAC games appearance at Barranquilla 2018, will compete today, July 5.

VI athletes competing today

Virgin Islands’ athletes also competing today include Beyoncé A. Defreitas in the 200m semi-finals, Jaleel N. Croal in the men’s 200m semi-finals and twin brothers, Djimon and Diamanté Gumbs in the discus finals.

According to the BVI Olympic Committee (BVIOC), competition for the VI’s athletes starts from 7:00 PM and will be streamed live on the Centro Caribe Sports Channel on YouTube.

    We need to get more of young persons into sports. The average local body is not bulky but makes makes up for lack of strength through speed & endurance.
