THE VALLEY, Anguilla- The Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly of the Virgin Islands, Dr the Honourable Karl Dawson (R1), joined parliamentarians from across the Caribbean and the United Kingdom at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) UK and UNESCO Caribbean Artificial Intelligence (AI) Workshop held in Anguilla from June 21-24.

The gathering examined the growing role of artificial intelligence in parliamentary work and public administration.

According to a press release, the workshop provided a forum for legislators to share experiences on the use of AI in their respective parliaments, while also considering the legislative and governance implications of emerging technologies.

The participation of Hon Dr Dawson underscored the House of Assembly’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and keeping pace with global technological developments.

Insights into AI

Dr Dawson said the sessions offered valuable insight into how artificial intelligence can support parliamentary efficiency, legislative review and public service delivery.  

“The exchange of ideas among legislators was timely and necessary as governments continue to adapt to the rapid advancement of digital technologies,” Honourable Dr Dawson commented.

Undergo a legislative review exercise 

The workshop also included a legislative review exercise that focused on AI-related laws, including data protection, cybersecurity, digital procurement, and online safety. 

Participants examined how existing legal frameworks might need to evolve to address the opportunities and risks posed by artificial intelligence.

Honourable Dr Dawson’s participation signals the Virgin Islands’ ongoing engagement in regional and international dialogue on innovation, governance and responsible digital transformation in parliamentary practice.

    Karl you better understand you job will be gone also. Why would the government need humans. The only want robots. The freemasons said humans talk back, humans want too much, humans want to call out sick human want to do nothing and want a lot of money they said. No job. Elon musk will control everything you do.       No push up face . no hoggishness , no lousy attitude . no favoritism No chatting with friends while e people waitng to be helped , no personal interpetations of the procedures , no sense of entitlements just working getting done and processes being effeciently executed . sounds good to me.
