THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI - Deputy Premier and Minister for Financial Services, Labour and Trade, Hon Lorna G. Smith (Al) has announced plans to open a District Office at the Settlement, Anegada.

First announced on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the House of Assembly, the Minister in a social media post today, February 3, 2023, said the opening of her Anegada office by the end of the Month comes as part as a commitment made to residents of the island.

“I am committed to providing more support to its residents and am honored that many of them contact me regularly with matters that need a quick response. I am not always able to respond immediately and my representative at the office will make sure that I follow up,” she said.

Hon Smith said Miss Sylvia Faulkner will represent her at the office located in the Settlement and in addition to providing support and bringing matters to her attention, she will provide any assistance with filling out Government application forms for various agencies.

“I am grateful to my colleague Hon Vincent Wheatley for his support in the endeavor. It is likely that he will share the facilities with me. It’s my intention to open a similar office on Jost van Dyke and will continue to work with my colleague Hon Mitch Turnbull to make this happen.”

Hon Smith said her objective is to reduce the time and costs of those on the sister islands to access the services of legislators.

“Let’s bring our sister islands closer to the center! Stay tuned for dates and more information,” Hon Smith promised in her update.

As the people of Anegada have always been fiercely independent may I suggest the Honourable Lady opens full Embassy or Consulate facilities on the Island. The position Ambassador to Anegada should attract much interest at a salary of $200.000.00 per annum.!

If you're fiercely independent already why not opt for district council status to legally run most of the affairs of your island?

The worse thing in life is when a grown man doesn't take accountability. It does not matter who knew about the STING operation... you were caught red handed. You put the entire country at risk. You knee the stakes were high and you still did it. You confessed to doing it more than once, too. It was only a matter of time before you were caught.
Hate to say this but... On ba bah black sheep, he's going to jail. The US is not the BVI.

There is a district office in ANEGADA through the Sister Island Program through the Deputy Governor’s Office located at the Admin Building in Program. The Minister’s office is separate
