ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Known for having one of the most organised and professional staff, Delta Petroleum continues to demonstrate that, while customers are important to the continued success of the company, equally important are the employees.

Delta Petroleum (Caribbean) Limited recently held a 3-day workshop (June 27-29, 2017) for employees at Maria’s by the Sea conference room in Road Town, Tortola where employees were taught the importance of managing personal problems for their own success as well as the company’s.

Endonomics

The workshop was entitled Endonomics and was conducted by Apostle Prophet Emanuel V. Duncan of Trinidad and Tobago. “Endonomics operates on the thesis that it is the inner condition and well-being of the worker that drives the productivity and not necessarily the state of the art equipment,” stated Mr Duncan, who has developed the concept of Endonomics.

According to Mr Duncan, it is how the workers feel inside that really gives them the energy to produce on any daily routine. He further said the whole idea of Endonomics is that the worker must practice self-management, so that even though there are things happening on the inside he or she must know how to manage his feelings and seek to reverse the negatives.

“But at the same time the bosses must know that the worker is a human being and not a machine and even though they may not be performing to a certain level don’t use the old cliché that says ‘we not running a kindergarten here. We have a business so you must leave your feelings home.’ And we said, and they all agreed, there is no way you can separate your person from your body, so when you leave home and come to work you are bringing everything that is you.”

At the end of the workshop all of the employees gave their feedback, with each of them stating at least one aspect of the workshop that struck home with them.

The workshop on Endonomics covered concepts in Self-Management, The Power of Words, Who is a Customer? Who owns this Company? and Inner Healing through the Power of Forgiveness.

Employees matter

According to Regional General Manager Bevis A. Sylvester, whose bubbly personality is a perfect example of the attitude needed in a workplace and especially for someone in management position, Delta Petroleum is very much interested in the well-being of each of its employees.

“You cannot expect the staff to perform if you don’t train them. In this training it came out where training must begin within you…We all have our internal problems where we have to learn to manage them to deal with people, including co-workers and customers.

“Everyday people come to work with issues and you have to manage those issues and that was the key part of the session this week.”

The company, with branches across the Caribbean, will be having a health fair next week for staff, where the focus will be on nutrition.

Community minded

Delta Petroleum is one of the visible companies in the community and, apart from its commendable professional outlook and highly motivated staff, demonstrates a compassionate corporate heart for the community.

“Delta is community minded. We are very much focussed on the people. We want to remain in the hearts and minds of our customers and we always give back to them, to the community. We also made donations to graduations this year regionally. We support all public schools regionally with all their graduation exercises. So we continue to give back and continue to be a part of the community and continue to care about our customers,” Mr Sylvester told Virgin Islands News Online.
