GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala- Delilah G. Pease recently brought home the Virgin Islands’ (VI) first-ever Pan American Squash Championship Junior Open gold medal.

Pease competed in the U13 category of the competition, which took place from August 28 to 31, 2025, in Guatemala City.

According to information from National Coach Adam Murrils, as shared on the Tortola Sport Club’s Facebook page, Pease beat out competitors from Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, El Salvador, Mexico, and the host city, Guatemala.

“Two things that made it even more impressive were that she only turned 11 on the penultimate day of the event… and that she didn’t drop a game throughout the tournament!” Mr Murrils shared.

Other VI squash player was injured

The VI was also represented at the games by Jakob Noblett-Diaz, 13, in the U15 category.

He, however, was injured playing for positions 13 to 16 in the U15 category.

Mr Murrils revealed that Jakob is only 13 years old and still has another year within the same age group.

“Jakob has improved a lot over the past 12 months… and I’m confident that with his work ethic and love for the game, he’ll make more big strides ahead of next year’s event. He’s definitely one to watch!”

Murrils also lauded the camaraderie and friendship developed between the Caribbean players.

“It was also awesome to see the Caribbean with 3 finalists! Hopefully, these results can continue to improve,” he added.
