DDM warns of ‘potentially’ unstable weather this weekend

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is alerting the Virgin Islands of potentially unstable weather beginning today, Friday, October 27, 2023, and lasting throughout the weekend.

It said rainfall could accumulate to 3-6 inches from Friday through Monday.

A high surf warning is also in effect.

DDM also said potential hazards include hazardous seas and potential urban flooding.

Weather today

Meanwhile, DDM said over the next 24 hours, the combination of a surface blunt enhanced by a persistent upper-level blunt will maintain a higher likelihood of rain and thunderstorm activity in the area during that time.

The weather today is mostly cloudy with periods of rain. Some showers could be moderate to locally intense at times, accompanied by thunderstorms.
