ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A tropical wave located near the west coast of Africa is producing disorganised showers and thunderstorms.

According to the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) the National Hurricane Centre (NHC) has said environmental conditions are expected to be marginally conducive for gradual development of this system while it moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic during the early to middle part of next week.

DDM said at this time there are no watches or warnings for the [British] Virgin Islands.

It also urged persons to continue monitoring the Atlantic in case of any change with this system.

      @ jack. Stop letting hurricane Irma scare you for the rest of your life. We get hurricanes every year, and most of them have been livable, but Irma was an exception. Since the world is forever changing, just prepare for a hurricane the way we always have without panicking. Irma was 5 years ago and hopefully, we will not see another one like that, but if we are warned one is coming, at least we know what to do to protect ourselves the best we can. Hurricanes are a way of life all over the world, so you cannot live in panic mode forever.

      @Thankk

      While I get where you’re coming from, do you really want such a hurricane to hit these islands. Remember hurricanes can’t differentiate between good and evil, day or night. It cannot differentiate between nationalities not ethnicity. Again think about what you’re wishing for. A hit from a hurricane does no good for anyone. By the way, where you here when Irma and Maria stop by?
